Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how FindIP.Net ("we", "us", or "our") collects and uses information when you use our website, IP intelligence API, FindIP Shield, and the FindIP Shield app for Shopify (together, the "Service"). The Service provides geolocation, proxy/VPN/Tor/relay detection, threat intelligence, hosting classification, network services identification for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, and visitor risk detection for websites. By using the Service, you accept the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address. You may also be asked to complete a brief usage profile before your API key is activated.

API usage data

When you call our API we log the queried IP address, your API token, the timestamp, and the HTTP response code. This data is used to operate the service, detect abuse, enforce our acceptable use policy, and improve data quality.

Standard web logs

Like any web server, we automatically receive your IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages you visit.

Contact form submissions

If you contact us, we retain your message and email address to respond to you.

2. IP Intelligence Data

Our core service analyses IP addresses and returns intelligence signals including:

  • Geolocation — country, city, subdivision, continent, coordinates, time zone, postal code, ISP, ASN, connection type.
  • Anonymisation detection — proxy (HTTP, SOCKS4, SOCKS5, residential), VPN (entry/exit), Tor (exit/relay), and privacy relay (relay, DNS relay).
  • Threat intelligence — brute force, spam source, botnet, malware C2, phishing, DDoS, credential stuffing, web attack classifications.
  • Infrastructure classification — datacenter, hosting provider, public DNS, public DoH, network scanner.

This intelligence is derived from third-party data feeds, public sources, and our own analysis. IP addresses submitted to the API are processed to return these signals and are logged as described in Section 1. We do not associate queried IP addresses with specific named individuals.

3. FindIP Shield and the FindIP Shield App for Shopify

Visitor data processed on behalf of site operators

FindIP Shield analyses traffic on websites operated by our customers. For each consented visit we process: the visitor's IP address and intelligence derived from it (network, country, VPN/proxy/Tor/hosting classification, risk signals); the event name and timestamp; the page origin and path with query strings and fragments removed; the page title and referrer; the browser user agent, language, cookie availability, and viewport size; and a random identifier scoped to the browser session.

Shield does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, payment details, form contents, keystrokes, or page content. Site operators may optionally attach pseudonymous context (such as a hashed user id) via the SDK; the site operator is responsible for that data.

For this data, the site operator is the data controller and FindIP is a processor acting on their instructions. Visitors should consult the privacy policy of the website they visited; deletion requests addressed to us are honored and coordinated with the relevant site operator.

The FindIP Shield app for Shopify

For merchants who install our Shopify app we additionally store the Shopify authentication session required to operate the installation: the store domain, an access token scoped to the granted permissions, and the store owner's name, email address, and locale as provided by Shopify during authentication. This data is deleted automatically when the app is uninstalled or when Shopify issues a shop/redact request. The app stores no Shopify customer or order records, so customers/data_request and customers/redact requests involve no stored data.

Storefront visitor data collected by the app's Web Pixel is limited to the inventory above and is collected only when Shopify's Customer Privacy system permits analytics processing for the visitor.
