We make one of the three products on this page, so read it with that in mind. We have kept it to what each vendor states publicly and linked the sources.
Fingerprint and IPQualityScore details come from their public pricing and documentation pages as read on October 8, 2026, linked in the sources section. Plans and prices change; check the vendor's page before deciding. If something here is out of date, write to [email protected] and we will correct it.
The one-line difference
- FindIP Shield is complete visitor risk protection for your website. It scores every visit, signup, login and checkout, explains each score with the signals behind it (VPN, proxy, Tor, hosting, malicious IPs, rotating networks), and lets you challenge, slow down or stop risky visitors straight from the dashboard. No code, no per-call bill, free.
- Fingerprint answers "is this the same browser or device I have seen before?" with a visitor identifier, plus additional signals.
- IPQualityScore answers "how risky is this IP, email, phone or device?" through a set of lookup APIs you call.
Side by side
| FindIP Shield | Fingerprint | IPQualityScore | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary output | Risk score, recommendation and reasons per event and session | A visitor identifier for a browser or device | A fraud score and flags per lookup |
| Core signal | Network intelligence: VPN, proxy, Tor, relay, hosting, malicious IP, and IP or network rotation within a session | Browser and device identification, with Smart Signals such as VPN detection and browser bot detection | IP reputation: proxy, VPN, Tor, recent abuse and bot status fields. Separate APIs for device fingerprinting, email validation and phone validation |
| How you integrate | Script tag, npm package, Google Tag Manager, WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify app, or a no-code Cloudflare Workers integration | JavaScript agent and mobile SDKs, with a server API | HTTP API called with your key and the IP; separate JavaScript and mobile SDKs for device fingerprinting |
| Who can install it | Anyone. A site owner installs a plugin, app or tag in minutes; a developer can go lower level with the npm SDK, custom events and the server verify endpoint | A developer | A developer |
| Dashboard | Included: events and sessions with scores and reasons, forms Shield discovered on the site, per-form protection, custom rules, one-click blocks, an enforcement log and alerts | See vendor documentation | See vendor documentation |
| Acting on the result | Configured in the dashboard, no code: a response per form (monitor, slow down, Turnstile check, stop, redirect) and custom rules by user, visitor, IP, country, network or submit velocity. A server verify endpoint is there when you want it | Your code decides, using the identifier and signals | Your code decides, using the score and flags |
| Recognising a returning visitor | First-party visitor ID, plus your own hashed user ID to tie sessions to accounts. Three privacy modes control how long it lasts | The product's main purpose | Through the separate device fingerprint API |
| Form data | Never collects form values, passwords, raw emails, phone numbers or payment fields. Three privacy modes | See vendor documentation | See vendor documentation |
| Free tier | Unlimited API calls (fair usage), and up to 10,000 events recorded per site per day | Up to 1,000 API calls per month | 1,000 free lookups |
| Paid pricing | Free. No per-call charges | Pro Plus at $99 per month including 20,000 API calls, then $4 per 1,000; Enterprise is custom | Paid plans; see the vendor's plans page |
Where Shield stands out
A dashboard that handles the whole job
Most risk products hand you a score and leave the rest to your engineers. Shield's dashboard is where the work gets done, and for many sites it is all you need:
- See everything. Every visit, session and form submit with its risk score, the reasons behind it, the network and the country.
- Protect a form by answering three questions. Shield lists the signup, login, checkout and lead forms it found on your site. Pick one and choose what happens to risky submits: monitor, slow down, a Turnstile check, stop, or redirect.
- Write your own rules. Allow, challenge or block by user, visitor, session, IP or network, country, ASN, or how fast submits arrive.
- Act on what you see. Block a user, visitor or IP from the enforcement log in one click, for a day, a week or permanently.
- Review the outcome. Every stop, slow-down and challenge is recorded next to the event, so you can see what each form's protection actually did.
None of this needs a deploy or a change to your site. Settings and rules are applied by Shield's servers, so the snippet you installed stays as it is.
Simple for site owners, deep for developers
Shield installs the way your site is built, and both routes lead to the same dashboard.
| No-code | For developers |
|---|---|
| WordPress and WooCommerce plugin | @findip/shield on npm, with TypeScript types |
| Shopify app from the App Store | Explicit events with track() and your own business context |
| Google Tag Manager template, with results in the dataLayer | identify() to connect sessions to your accounts, hashed in the browser |
| Cloudflare integration: authorize, pick a hostname, done | Server verify endpoint for decisions made in your backend |
| One script tag for any other site | Consent and privacy mode controls in code |
Start with the plugin today and add the lower-level pieces later, or the other way round. Nothing has to be reinstalled.
Unlimited API calls (fair usage), 10,000 recorded events a day
Shield does not charge per call. API calls are unlimited under fair usage, with the rate limits set out in the Free Preview terms, and each site records up to 10,000 events a day in its dashboard, free. You can score every page view, not only the checkout, without working out a monthly bill first.
Privacy built in
Shield works from the network and the event, not from what your visitors type. It never collects form values, passwords, raw emails, phone numbers or payment fields, and three privacy modes with consent integration let you match collection to your policy.
Which one fits
| If you need | Look at |
|---|---|
| To see which signups, logins or checkouts come from VPN, proxy, Tor or hosting networks, and respond from a dashboard without writing code | FindIP Shield |
| To score every visit without per-call costs | FindIP Shield |
| Risk signals on a WordPress, WooCommerce or Shopify site, or in Google Tag Manager, with no backend work | FindIP Shield |
| To recognise the same device across sessions, cleared cookies and changing IPs | Fingerprint |
| Account sharing or multi-accounting detection based on device identity | Fingerprint |
| Email and phone validation alongside IP reputation from one vendor | IPQualityScore |
| A server-side IP risk lookup inside an existing fraud pipeline | IPQualityScore, or the FindIP lookup API |
These are not exclusive. Network intelligence and device identity describe different things, and teams with a serious abuse problem often run one of each: a network signal to decide who deserves a closer look, and a device identifier to connect repeat attempts.
A note on cost
The pricing models differ more than the prices. Shield is free, with unlimited API calls (fair usage) and up to 10,000 recorded events per site per day. Fingerprint and IPQualityScore meter each call or lookup, so with those the monthly volume is the number to work out first.
