Free Preview Terms
Version free-preview-2026-10-25 (replaces free-preview-2026-08-09; what changed is listed under Changes). These terms supplement the general FindIP Terms of Service and apply to the FindIP Shield Free Preview. By creating a Shield site you accept them; the version you accepted is recorded with your site. Shield is provided free of charge, "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", and every decision you take on its output is yours.
In plain words (a summary; the numbered sections are what binds): Shield is free during the Free Preview: 10,000 recorded events per site per day, every feature, no card, no trial clock. It scores the network a visit comes from and leaves the decisions to you; nothing happens on your site until you switch a response on. Free sites contribute pseudonymized, network-level sightings to the FindIP Threat Network, never form values and never who a visitor is. If we ever end the preview, lower the default quota, or charge for something that is free today, you get at least 90 days' notice. There is no SLA, and support is best effort. You are responsible for your site's legal compliance. The Free Preview page explains all of this without the legal wording.
1. What Shield is, and what it is not
A monitoring and response tool that you configure
Shield is a monitoring and response tool that you configure. It observes visitor events on your site, enriches them with FindIP's IP intelligence, and shows you risk scores, network flags, reasons and recommendations. On the forms you choose, it can apply a response you configure (monitor, slow down, challenge, stop or redirect); on a Cloudflare-connected hostname it can apply the access rules you set. Nothing happens on your site until you switch a response on.
Shield is not a security guarantee or a compliance product. Scores, reasons and recommendations (allow / monitor / challenge / block) are signals: they may be wrong, incomplete, stale or unavailable, and no accuracy, fitness for purpose or outcome is promised. A response applied in the browser is friction against bots and casual abuse, not a security boundary; the server verify endpoint is the place for decisions that matter. Every decision you take, or do not take, based on Shield's output is yours alone, including blocked legitimate users, admitted fraudulent ones and any resulting loss. When intelligence is unavailable, Shield reports the visitor as unknown, never as safe, and you decide how to treat unknown.
No SLA, uptime commitment or support obligation applies; support is best effort, by email.
1a. Changes to the Free Preview, and our notice commitment
At least 90 days before anything free changes
Shield is young. Features, defaults and limits may change during the Free Preview, and we announce changes in the dashboard. If we end the Free Preview, lower the default event quota, or start charging for anything that is free on the date you accepted these terms, we give at least 90 days' notice by email to your account address and in the dashboard, and your existing sites keep working on the terms in force at the time of the notice through that period. Changes that add features, raise limits or reduce what is collected need no notice. We may still disable a site at once under section 3 (fair use) or where the law requires it.
2. The free deal: Threat Network contribution

Shield is free because free sites contribute pseudonymized, infrastructure-level sightings to the FindIP Threat Network, exactly as described in The FindIP Threat Network — that page is part of these terms. In short: network-level observations only (IP, network flags, coarse event class), your site present only as an irreversible pseudonym, never form values, never cross-site profiles of people, raw sightings retained 90 days.
3. Fair use
Free does not mean unbounded
429 beyond them. Nothing is dropped silently, and the dashboard shows the quota status.If a real site needs more volume, write to [email protected]. During the Free Preview we raise quotas at no charge.
4. Your obligations — you carry all compliance responsibility
Installing Shield is your decision as the site owner
All legal and regulatory responsibility for that decision sits with you, including:
strict mode and consent API are tools you may use; choosing and operating a compliant configuration is solely your responsibility.5. Data protection roles
You are the controller
You are the data controller for all data collected from your site. FindIP processes that data as your service provider, strictly per this documentation, on your instructions given by installing and configuring the SDK. Pseudonymized Threat Network sightings are maintained for shared network-security intelligence and are engineered so they cannot be traced back to your site or your visitors' identities. It is your responsibility to ensure you may lawfully direct this processing for your site.
6. Retention, deletion, termination
Your data stays yours
Retention periods are listed in The FindIP Threat Network. You can delete a site at any time; its events, sessions, and aggregates are removed by the retention process. Ceasing to use Shield ends future contributions immediately; already-contributed sightings age out within 90 days.

7. No warranty, no liability
Read this section carefully
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. FindIP and its operators shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever arising from or related to the service or its output — including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or claims by your visitors or users — even if advised of the possibility. The service is free; the total aggregate liability of FindIP for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for it (zero). You agree to indemnify and hold FindIP harmless from any third-party claim arising from your use of the service, your site's data collection, or your failure to provide legally required notices or obtain legally required consents.
8. Changes
Version history
We may update these terms; material changes bump the version string. Your recorded acceptance stays attached to the version you accepted, and continued use after a re-acceptance prompt constitutes acceptance of the new version. Changes that reduce what you get are covered by the notice commitment in section 1a.
